History

Automotive Gas Oil (Pty) Limited (AGO) is a storage and blending facility located in Factoria, Krugersdorp in the Gauteng province and has been operational since 2001.

In May 2006 we received a positive Record of Decision (RoD) from the Gauteng Department of Environment and Conservation (GDACE) for the proposed expansion of our fuel depot. The first two, of a total of six, phases commenced in early 2008 and were completed in 2011.

Phases three to six would see AGO increase its volumetric capacity and in accordance with the National Environmental Management Act ((No. 107 of 1998) (as amended), this development required a second environmental assessment. Once the relevant authorisation was received AGO proceeded with the following capacity extensions, which were completed in early 2015:

The installation of a 1,219m² bund with a bund wall extending to 1.87 metres. The bund area houses four 20-metre high diesel storage tanks of 1,901,428 litres.

The installation of a 1,192m² bund wall extending to a height of 1.87 metres. This area houses three 20-metre high diesel tanks of 1,901,428 litres and one Illuminating paraffin tank of 600,000 litres.

Each of the above bunds has separate gantries for loading and off-loading products, with each tank having its own dedicated pipeline facility linked to the existing depot.

Installation of a single 80m3 liquid petroleum bulk gas (LPG) tank within an individual bund.

Construction of a warehouse for packed lubricants storage and an LPG bulk/bottle decanting plant.

Facilities

The AGO facility handles a wide variety of bulk hydrocarbon products that are suitable for heating and automotive applications. We store automotive products, however do not store petrol. Our facility is secure and monitored around the clock via surveillance cameras and patrolling guards.

The AGO depot consists of five loading bays, each with a gantry equipped with a top-loading arm. Our gantry-loading rate averages 1,000 litres per minute. Each truck takes approximately one hour to load and weigh, with measuremnt taken as per weighbridge calculations pre-and post loading.

The facility has the capacity to discharge up to six rail or road tankers (typically 40,000 litres) simultaneously, with a receipt rate of approximately 1,000 litres per minute thus resulting in a typical turn around time of 60 minutes.
